Trek FX

FX is a sport hybrid with great versatility. Depending on what you’re looking to do FX could be the bike for you. If you’re looking for something with light weight in mind that can be used for recreation, workouts or commuting than this is a bike worth considering.

As far as ride quality the bike feels quick and stable due to light weight principles and design. It steers quickly, but confidently as the bike is not flexible due to the choice of it’s construction materials. It handle’s well at slow speeds while maintaining decent straight line high speed stability.

The bike itself has many different variations that range in price from $354 to $1,999. The base models have 35mm wide tires and the sportier models have 32mm wide tires. Some models are set with disc brakes.

Typically what you’re going to do with a bike is unique like you so that’s what there’s so many different models to choose from. As far as ride position goes, you don’t necessarily feel bent over, but you can tell your core is engaged to be used for pedaling. It’s not an aggressive position but it’s not fully upright allowing for efficiency in aerodynamics and pedaling with the ability to output high power.

The base model Trek FX is way ahead of any department store bike in terms of the materials it is constructed out of and craftsmanship of that construction. It is important to note that even the base model is a great bike and as you go up they typically are lighter, sturdier and perform better. Upgraded drives trains and components are made out of stronger materials allowing them to work better under pressure and stay adjusted properly much longer.

The aluminum models feature advancements in aluminum that allow the tubing to be shaped for ride quality characteristics and weight savings that haven’t been done before. You can read more on that process here.

The bike can be outfitted with a rack system front or rear on aluminum models, lighting and smart sensors. Racks give the ability to hold all kinds of different storage devices for all kinds of different purposes, such as long trip supplies, grocery store bags and baskets.

All the models except for the the top two are aluminum, as the models go up they are constructed out of higher quality aluminium. It’s important to point out that aluminum is not simply aluminum and a department store or random website off brand bike may be recycled pop cans.

The top two models are built like full sport bikes with Carbon frames. They are going to be the lightest, most efficient highest performing models. They also feature in the frame the iso speed decoupler, which dramatically reduces shock and vibration and improves handling.
